Gold Nugget Soccer Club Air Quality Policy

The health and safety of our youth players is our primary concern.  It is our intent that soccer promotes good health. We do not want soccer activities to become an instrument of bad health.

Coaches, check the Air Quality Index (AQI) one hour before your practice is scheduled. Use the following links to determine conditions at your scheduled venue: Local GNSC Region (click here) which shows meters at (or near) our practice and local game fields - or - the Greater GNSC Playing Region (click here) which shows air quality meters along the Highway 50 corridor for older teams that travel on game day.

Please note, AQI is measured in two ways: Ozone and Particulate Matter, and if either score is in an elevated range it is cause for action as described in the following:

1) Ozone or Particulate Matter 201+

  • No outdoor practice

  • No indoor practice in a facility with open doors or windows

2) Ozone or Particulate Matter 151 - 200

  • Restricted outdoor practice allowed

  • Walking practice – no running

  • Recommend reduced practice time for younger players

  • No 1v1 or small sided games

  • Players are not to exercise to the point of heavy breathing

  • Monitor during your practice session and adjust accordingly.

3) Ozone or Particulate Matter 101 - 150

  • Restricted outdoor practice allowed

  • Light running OK

  • Increase recovery time between exercises and repetitions

  • Players are not to exercise to the point of heavy breathing for extended periods of time

  • Monitor during your practice session and adjust accordingly.

4) Ozone and Particulate Matter 0 – 100

  • No practice restrictions.

Thank you in advance for your adherence to this policy.
